This page will be updated as soon as new programme events, or changes to existing events, are known. If in doubt, please contact one of the committee members for the latest news or check the latest newsletter.
Monthly meetings (including a buffet), are normally held at the The Conservative Club, Beverley on the last Monday of each month, commencing at 7.30 pm and generally finishing around 10pm. Please note that the May meeting date coincides with the date of the official Late Spring Bank Holiday. We do not charge an entry fee but both members and guests are requested to donate £2 per head to help defray the cost of engaging external speakers to our meetings. Please note that Sue, our Treasurer, is building a database of members and regular visitors to our meetings in order to be able to advise everyone quickly in case of late cancellations or changes to meetings. So, please do not be offended if she approaches you at the next meeting and asks you to fill out a form with some personal contact details!
The Conservative Club has a large car park, the building is on one level and the meeting room is larger than the previous one at the Catholic Club. The main snag, until you get used to it, is gaining admission to the car park. There is a barrier across the entrance and to lift it, you have to insert £3 (£2, £1, 50p coins). You have to push the ticket request button; it will not print automatically after inserting the coinage. You take the ticket from the machine, the barrier lifts, and there are plenty of parking places inside, including ones for drivers with disabled badges. When you present your £3 ticket at the bar it is used for purchasing your drinks etc. and change is given to the value of £3. If you don’t drink then buy a packet of crisps - there won’t be any at the buffet! Please try to ensure that you have £3 ready in the right coinage and please note that you may not be able to insert the coins directly from the seat of your vehicle. When you leave at the end of the evening, the barrier lifts automatically. No ticket is needed to exit the car park but do allow the car in front of you to exit first and then wait for the barrier to come down again. If you try to go through before this, you could end up with a dent in your car roof. (@ 27th February - Please note that no decision has yet been taken by the Club about converting the entrance barrier to accept the new one pound coinage which becomes legal tender from March 2017)
The Conservative Club is in Wylies Road, Beverley. The building is virtually opposite North Bar. If you are travelling through the centre of Beverley from the south, go through North Bar (traffic lights) and immediately turn right into Wylies Road. The club is a well-signed white building on the left hand side. If approaching from the Westwood, cross at the lights, then look for the building on your left. Coming into Beverley from the north, at the lights turn left, again the Club is immediately on your left. For Sat Nav users, the Post Code is HU17 7AP.
